Job Title: Assistant Manager – QA
Department: Quality Assurance
Report to: AGM – QA
Scope of the job:
Ensure the correct specifications and higher Quality standards are met through robust quality practices.
Key responsibilities:
1. Quality improvement for the followings:
a. Raw materials
b. In process
c. Packaging materials
d. Finished goods
e. Dispatch
f. Handling analytical lab – Performing all the tests as per the BIS and Company standard
g. Keep the test results within LSL and USL , taking action for its deviation with the help of foamer
h. Keep the lab in good condition – 5s, Machine maintenance, calibration of all the equipments, GLP (Good Laboratory Practices)
2. Market visit & Quality Complaint:
a. Market visits for gathering first hand information about quality of the mattress supplied and packaging (CAPA)
b. Interact with dealer / C&FA/ warehouse/marketing & Sales team to get the feedback
c. Support / Guide to CRM team to attend and sort out quality complaints received at any locations within specified timelines.
d. Reduce the consumer complaints (% Failure) – month on month
3. Maintenance of records:
a. Inspection report for Raw materials, during process, packaging, finished goods and dispatch
b. Report sent to central QA
c. Data analysis
4. Training & Development:
a. Give on the job training to the factory workers
b. Arranging QA meeting from time to time with vendor, outsourced, in-house personnel and workmen for meeting quality standards
c. Keep the attrition level low by motivating the team members
5. Cost savings & others
a. Reduce the wastages in the factory (Identify the 8 waste and eliminate)
b. Monitor the PUF yield improvement and maintain as per the Company specification
c. Vendor development and Supplier audit to make sure for the Quality at the source
d. Reduce the customer / Consumer complaints
e. Plant hygiene, proper storage of Raw materials & Finished goods.
f. Frequent quality audit and rate the process for improvement
g. Implement different Quality tools and its sustainability (basic 7 qc tools), prepare the data using SQC tools
h. Cost saving projects using 6 sigma
i. Get the certification (In house / Outside) for Lean implementer and start implementing the same using Lean tools like 5S, FMEA,KANBAN, A3 and other problem solving techniques and impart the same to all members in the plant
j. Handle KOS and create awareness about KOS activities – 100% Employee participations
k. Analysis, documents and report back for the products which are coming back from the customer / end users due to defect
l. Analyze the internal failure, external failure and take CAPA for reduce the same , calculate the COPQ for management review
m. Handle other ancillary units like Spring mattresses, Foam mattresses, Bonded foam production
n. Identify CTQs and prepare the trend report for its improvement

6. General Job Duties:
a) ISO 9001:2008 QMS implementation / documentation, Conduct periodic audit (IA) and review
b) Liaison with Govt bodies likes BIS, Pollution control etc.
c) Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.
d) Achieves QOT (Quality Objective Target) by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change.
e) Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
f) Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.
g) Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.
h) Updates job knowledge by studying trends in and developments in quality management; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
i) Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
